The versatile Sound Devices MixPre-6 is a super-compact and portable 6-input, 8-track recorder, mixer, and USB audio interface that offers field recordists, sound designers, musicians, podcasters, videographers, and YouTubers world class sound quality and extreme durability.

The key to the MixPre-6’s high-resolution, ultra-low-noise performance is Sound Devices' new Kashmir discrete Class-A microphone preamp. Far surpassing and outperforming the off-the-shelf IC-based mic preamps found in other recorders, the Kashmir mic pre offers a -130 dBV noise floor, analog limiters, and new 32-bit A-to-D converters.

Fast and accurate mixing is made possible by the MixPre-6’s ergonomic front panel gain control knobs with easy-to-see ring LED metering per channel. Key channel features include pan, solo, low cut filter, phantom power and rack arm. The front panel also includes Start, Stop, and Record controls plus a user-programmable button. The MixPre-6 includes a 3.5 mm headphone monitoring jack driven by a powerful custom-designed, wide-bandwidth headphone amp and user-programmable presets.

As a USB audio interface, MixPre-6 offers the unique ability to record to an SD card while simultaneously streaming multi-channel audio over USB. The applications are almost limitless: use it for Skype or Facetime interviews, to record audio for podcasts or video blogs, or as a backup recorder to your computer. For musicians, MixPre-6 can be used as a top-shelf USB interface with premium mic preamps for use with a DAW; to quickly record a song idea without AC power; for recording rehearsals; or even to add inputs to your PA system.

Constructed with a die-cast aluminum chassis, making it lightweight, durable, and incredibly robust, the MixPre-6 fits into any production environment. It also accommodates everyone from the first-time user to the experienced professional, offering two operating modes, Basic and Advanced. Basic mode takes the guesswork out of audio recording and is intended for stereo recording applications, such as interviews, video blogs, music, or podcasts, and enables a user to start recording right out of the box. For more experienced users, Advanced mode provides access to multi-channel recording and advanced settings including metering, routing, timecode, mic pre gain, stereo and Mid/Side channel linking, channel phase invert, delay, headphone presets, and more.

A responsive touch screen enables incredibly simple and intuitive operation, while the bright, IPS technology, sunlight-readable color LCD offers the ultimate in convenient navigation. The MixPre-6 additionally includes integrated Bluetooth Smart for easy connection, control, and metering via iOS and Android mobile devices.

DSLR videographers will enjoy the inclusion of a retractable ¼-20 mount that allows the MixPre-6 to be paired with a wide variety of cameras—and the unit even houses the required Allen wrench. The male and female ¼-20 threads are captive and are always available.

The MixPre’s micro HDMI input accepts timecode from capable cameras for synchronization of sound and video. Timecode can alternatively be fed into the MixPre’s 3.5mm input from an external generator. The micro HDMI input can receive "record triggers" from popular cameras, allowing the operator to automatically start and stop audio recording from the attached camera’s record button.

MixPre-6 has multiple powering options, from AA batteries in a convenient detachable sled of either four or eight cells; from an alternate sled housing two hot-swappable Sony L-Mount Li-Ion
batteries; or from a laptop’s USB-C or USB-A connectors offering convenient connection and powering with just one cable. An optional AC adapter is available.

SAM-32SD SD/SDHC Memory Card

The Sound Devices SAM-32SD SD/SDHC Memory Card is a 32GB SD/SDHC card that is rated at 90 MB/s for read and write speeds (620x). The SAM-32SD has been optimized and extensively tested to ensure fast and flawless performance when used with MixPre Series of audio recorders (MixPre-10M, MixPre-10T, MixPre-6 and MixPre-3) and the 6-Series production mixer/recorder line (688, 664, 633). KSTGMIX Stingray MixPro

The KSTGMIX Stingray MixPro portable workstation is designed for the Sound Devices MixPre-3 and MixPre-6 mixer recorders. More than an ordinary bag, the Stingray MixPro can help turn a small recorder into a portable workstation.

Because these mixers are jam-packed with features and used in a multitude of applications and situations, the K-Tek design team emphasized easy access all around, coupled with operating versatility.

Sized for the MixPre3 and MixPre6, the Stingray MixPro features multiple assets to accommodate all common working styles and methods, including front and back openings for mounting and a versatile front flap to attach wireless receivers. The removable Front Pouch storage compartment is perfect to keep external power options and large enough to hold common location mixing batteries (like an NP-1 style battery with cup or portable USB-C battery tanks). Oversized MOLLE-style straps accommodate additional accessories ranging from wireless receivers to other Stingray bags and pouches and are positioned on the front of the bag along with the Front Pouch.

For convenient table-top operation, a built-in adjustable kickstand enables convenient control interface access and comfortable viewing whether the user is sitting or standing.

The multi-layer walls feature the same strong protective exterior and soft orange high-contrast interior that K-Tek’s Stingray bags have become famous for. Dual curved zippers encircle each side panel to fully access inputs, outputs and controls. A clear vinyl shield to cover the exposed top opening can be folded back or easily removed. The internal vertical frames give the MixPro the same rigidity and strength that has made the larger Stingray bags the preferred portable workstations of choice.

The combined front and bottom flap allows front mounting, opens wide to access the internal battery packs and media compartment on the bottom of MixPre units, and can even reattach to the back of the MixPro. With MOLLE-style straps outside and inside, attaching accessories is a breeze in any configuration.
