Sound Devices MixPre-3

The Sound Devices MixPre-3 is perfect for getting great big tones without taking up too much space, making it perfect for field recording, videographers, project studios, sound designers, podcasts, Youtubers, even writing sessions.

Mixpre-3 is equipped with new Kashmir Preamps, a discrete, Class-A preamp designed by Sound Devices. 32-bit A/D converters ensure the highest quality audio recordings. Each channel has a -130 dBV noise floor, and analog limiters.

Mixpre-3 works great as a USB interface, but has a unique ability to also record directly to an SD card, making it great for on site recordings. Its small, pocket-sized design, and die-cast aluminum chassis helps with mobility when you’re on the go. A touchscreen interface makes Mixpre-3 work seamlessly as a stand-alone unit.

The MixPre-3 offers Basic and Advanced modes. Basic mode is intended for stereo recording applications, such as interviews, video blogs, music or podcasts. Advanced mode offers access to multi-channel recording and advanced settings such as metering, routing, timecode, mic pre gain, stereo and Mid/Side channel linking, headphone presets and more. MixPre-3 includes integrated Bluetooth Smart for easy connection, control and metering via iOS devices.

MixPre-3 has a retractable ¼-20 mounting capacity making it a perfect pairing for a wide variety of cameras, because the male and female ¼-20 threads are captive, they cannot be lost and are always available.

Capable cameras can feed Timecode to the device over the micro HDMI input, making it very easy to sync sound and video. Timecode can also be fed into the 3.5 mm input from an external TC generator. The MixPre-3’s micro HDMI input can receive "record triggers", which automatically starts and stops MixPre-3 recording via the camera’s record button.

Mixpre-3 can be powered by a USB connection, or the use of AA batteries if you are on the go.
