The Schoeps M 221B microphone is a classic small-diaphragm tube condenser that has become a staple of high-end studios. Widely used for live orchestral recording, where capturing every detail of the sound and dynamics is paramount. Beautiful on acoustic guitars, it also works wonders on acoustic piano. A sweet, musical sound, silky top end, and excellent sensitivity for capturing fine detail and nuances.
Comes with a Telefunken AC701 tube and the M934B capsule that is switchable between omni and cardioid patterns. Original cable and PSU.
Introduced in 1954, the Schoeps M 221A was only made for a few months before it was replaced by the more common M 221 B. (One of the main differences between the two is the threads that connect the capsule to the body; these are male threads on the 'A' type capsule, and female on the 'B' type). Manufactured in Hungary.
