The Rupert Neve Designs Portico 511 Mic Pre combines some of the best features of leading Neve channels, including the 517 preamp, and the 5012’s sweepable High-Pass Filter. The Portico 511 is a great addition to any recording studio's 500 series rack, an extremely versatile preamplifier that is suitable for any application.

This transformer based, Class-A preamp can have up to 66 dB of dynamic range, each click of the preamp is in 6 dB increments for easy recall. The 511 is a TLA non-reactive design that precludes the loading of microphones with limited driving capability, this gives the 511 its signature Neve sound quality with very musical harmonic distortion. With the 511, the Texture control allows the preamp to be pushed even further, adding about 10 times the desirable THD of the original signal. A trim pot is included on the front panel for the perfect input to the preamp.

Much like a few particularly well-known classic European condensers, the sE Electronics 4400a is a true all-rounder. You can put it up on just about anything and it'll sound great.

Unfortunately for many studio owners, those "classic condensers" are often not what they used to be. Capsule designs change over time, capacitors dry out, metal switches are replaced with plastic buttons and LEDs, and the mics that were once so versatile are now mere shadows of their former selves.

As with all sE mics, the 4400a's back-to-back brass-ringed capsules are hand-built and hand-tuned by our skilled technicians, just like any fine musical instrument.

CUSTOM SHOCKMOUNT & CHASSIS

The flat, round-edged chassis design and custom suspension mount allow the mic to be centered within the shock, flipped around and used flat against a drum head or guitar cab, or angled outwards and pushed through inside of a kick drum. And at less than 3/4" thick, it fits neatly in the palm of your hand, but is built to take a beating on the road.
