The Noise Engineering Ataraxic Iteritas Alia is a voltage-controlled and proudly digital oscillator based roughly on the original Ataraxic Translatron. Now brought to the Alia platform and beefed up with a suboscillator and performable hold button, it’s back and ready to make some killer basslines or glitchy madness. Sound starts with waveshaped bit tables that are amplitude modulated, folded, and distorted by the CV-controllable front panel controls. Ataraxic is ripe for sound design and exploration: a wide range of bright, digital timbres are readily available, and tuning below audio rates creates wonderfully unexpected textures. Guaranteed to make the fax machine jealous.
Ataraxic - pertaining to a lucid state of robust tranquility - from Greek Ataraxia with suffix -ic "pertaining to"
Iteritas - repetitiousness - from Latin itero "repeat" with suffix -tas "state of being"
Alia - another, other from Latin alia "other", also marine animals, or salty from Greek "halia"
“Endless sea lion tranquility”
