Gefell M295 Cardioid Microphone #1003 (Used)

The Gefell M295, like the M294, is a precision cardioid condenser pencil microphone with an extended bandwidth for the utmost in natural sound reproduction. Derived from Gefell’s test, measurement and instrumentation division, the M295 employs a pure 0.8 micron nickel diaphragm in a ceramic housing for temperature-stable performance. The extremely low membrane distortion of the pure nickel diaphragm even when subjected to extreme sound pressure levels assures a colour-free reproduction of the source.

The direction of maximum sensitivity is axial. lt is possible to activate a 10 dB-attenuator pad for handling very high sound pressure levels. A sensitivity reduction for low frequencies can be utilized to suppress the proximity effect.

The frequency response in the upper range is nearly linear while in the Iower frequency band it features a slight roII-off to counteract the bass lift of close speech (proximity effect). The microphone is thus ideally suited for recordings in close proximity to the sound source. lt is recommended to use a popscreen and to switch on the microphone bass rolI-off for close range applications. A windscreen can be utilized to enhance life-like recording.
