Warren Huart Shoots Out Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphones At Vintage King Los Angeles

As one of the most versatile studio tools in recording history, large diaphragm condenser microphones are known for sounding great on just about everything. From the beloved U 87 to the C414 and beyond, engineers and producers have used these mics for decades to record vocals, drums, brass and countless other types of musical instruments.

In his latest video, Warren Huart visited Vintage King Los Angeles to talk with Audio Consultant Alex Oana about large diaphragm condenser microphones. The two hit up our state-of-the-art mic locker to put over 20 microphones, ranging from $500- $10000, to the test and discuss their frequency response and unique characteristics. Most importantly, the duo offers insights on possible uses for each of theses microphones in the studio.
